I attended a trunk show of hers in Lexington, MA several months ago and really enjoyed talking to her about her clothing, and where the beautiful fabrics are sourced and manufactured in India. Her casual cotton pants are made of exceptional cotton, light and yet strong, and her original floral patterns are both subtle and vibrant. These made great gifts for family members at the holidays.
There is an elegance and versatility to the lines of her clothing, whether it is the casual cotton pants or an absolutely stunning black evening gown that would easily hold its own among those worn at the Oscars. At the trunk show she had a selection of gorgeous, cloud-soft winter scarves, a blend of finest wools and silk and colored with all-natural traditional vegetable dyes. I chose a mauve one as a gift for my sister, whose eyes lit up when she opened the package. She put the scarf on immediately and the color of it gave her complexion a radiance. It’s a scarf she’ll wear and love for many years. You have to touch the fabric to understand how wonderfully soft it is.
On Lavanya’s website, I found a beautiful blue and white cotton skirt that I ordered for myself. It’s a summery design with a subtle ruffle and made of crisp, organic cotton. My go-to skirt this summer. Lavanya travels to India to meet with the producers of the cottons and wools that she uses, and with the manufacturing team that produces her original fabrics and patterns. This passionate attention to detail certainly pays off — her collections are unique, quality pieces that can be worn and enjoyed for years. I am looking forward to her next trunk show!”
